What is the difference between Hairdressing and Barbering ? 

Typically  Hairdressing focuses on both women's and mens hair,  cutting, colour and styling.

 

Hairdressers often work in salon, rent a chair, mobile services or become self- employed. 

Barbering Focuses on Men's cutting & styling 

Clipper work and fading. 

Barbers often work in a barbershop, rent a chair become self-employed or offer mobile barbering services .

Am I Too Old To Become A Hairdresser or Barber? 

It is never too late to learn this amazing skill. 

Hairdressing or barbering is about learning a skill and techniques.  It is also about customer service.

How you make someone feel.

With your past experiences you will be able to have tranferable skills that someone younger coming into the industry does not have. 

Jacquie has trained 17years to 58 years. 

When you are learning,  it is a safe space to make mistakes. You are not meant to get it perfect straight aways.

It is not about putting too much pressure on yourself. 

You are not a hairdresser or barber untill you have learnt the foundermental skills. That is where Jacquie would like to help. 

How can I become a hairdresser or barber without going to college 

It is possible to learn hairdressing or barbering without attending college. 

Many people choose private training because they want more flexiblity. Private training is great for adults changing a career, parents returning to work or anyone who does not like the thought of  big group learning environments.

What is the Difference Between an Accredited Course and a College Qualification?

An accredited course is recognised by an awarding body and focuses on developing practical skills and industry knowledge. 1-2-1 training no other  students which means the timetable is personalised to you. 

A college qualification, such as an NVQ or VTCT diploma, is a regulated qualification that follows a specific curriculum and assessment process over 2-3 years 

Both can help you develop your skills, but the right option depends on your career goals, learning style, and whether you want private training or a college environment.

How Much Can You Earn As A Hairdresser or Barber? 

Hairdressing or Barbering is based around the services you offer, the products you use and time it takes to do. 

Here are a few examples 

Ladies Cut and Blow dry . Once trained can take around  1 hour to do. Prices range from £30 - £100 + 

Hair colouring - depending of what you are offering can take around 1 hours to 6 hours  Prices range from £50 to £200 + 

Barbering, once trained can take 30/ 50 minutes to do . Prices range from £20- £40 Gent do return more often.
