My Story
When I look back over my career, sometimes I can hardly believe it was really my life.
From a very young age, I only ever had two ambitions:
to become a hairdresser…and to live in America.
Hairdressing started under the kitchen table, cutting the hair on my Barbie and Cindy dolls… which eventually led to cutting my own hair too, definitely not my best look!
America came from my dad, who worked for American companies. Growing up, I travelled there a lot. Something about the energy, the people and the opportunities always stayed with me.
At 16, I applied to Reading College to study hairdressing, convinced I already had my future planned out.
But life has a funny way of opening doors when you least expect it.
One day on a trip to London, I walked into Harrods and asked if I could look around the salon on the fifth floor. At the time, over 150 people worked in the hair and beauty department alone.
A lady called Marie kindly showed me around , although what I didn’t realise at the time was that the tour had actually turned into an interview.
I lived over 40 miles outside London with a one-and-a-half-hour train journey each way, but Marie offered me a position training as a hairdresser at Harrods. I finished school on the Friday and started at Harrods on the Monday.
It was an incredible experience.
From celebrities and royalty to ladies who simply wanted the famous Harrods carrier bag, I saw every side of life.
Harrods even paid my travel while I trained, and despite the long commute, I loved every minute of it.
After two years, my travel support ended and I moved to a local salon closer to home.
But I missed the buzz of London. Before long, I was back, this time working in a salon in Mayfair where antiques were sold alongside hairdressing. It attracted people that you would see in Hello! and OK! magazine and opened my eyes to another world entirely.
Then one conversation changed my life again.
While cutting a client’s hair, I discovered he was the Managing Director of Celebrity Cruise Ships.
That conversation led me to working onboard cruise ships as a hairdresser, and suddenly my dream of getting closer to America became reality.
I travelled the world.
I started as a hairdresser and worked my way up to Salon and Spa Manager. Those five years taught me confidence, resilience, leadership and how to connect with people from every background imaginable.
Eventually I wanted my land legs back and returned to England.
I sent my CV to companies including L’Oréal and Wella while also working at Champneys in Tring.
L’Oréal offered me a role in education and training, and for the next five years I taught and educated colour key to colour specalist degree, I did stage work for hair professionals and salons across a huge territory.
From there, my career continued to evolve.
I became a Salon Manager in Manchester, then joined the Toni & Guy training academy after the previous business unexpectedly collapsed.
Later, I moved back south and became an Area Manager for Regis International, overseeing 15 hair and beauty salons in and around London, including locations in Selfridges, House of Fraser, Oxford Street and Victoria.
After Regis, I moved into health and beauty spa management with Esporta, but during the company takeover by Virgin Active, redundancies were made and I found myself at another crossroads.
At the time, it felt scary.
But looking back now, every challenge pushed me towards something new.
I moved into consultancy, training colleges, salon business coaching and eventually owning my own training academy.
Although I loved hairdressing, I also became fascinated by the mind and human behaviour.
I wanted to understand:
-
confidence
-
emotions
-
relationships
-
mindset
-
self-believe
-
and why so many people struggle silently
That journey led me to train in NLP, hypnotherapy, IEMT, RST, emotional wellbeing, relationship coaching and mental health support and even matchmaking, running events.
Through every chapter of my life, my heart always came back to hair.
Because hairdressing is never really just about hair.
It’s about confidence.
Identity.
Connection.
Energy.
How people feel about themselves.
Over the years I started noticing something deeper within the industry.
Many hairdressers were burnt out.
Emotionally exhausted.
Lacking confidence.
Carrying everybody else while silently struggling themselves.
Many people wanting a career change didn’t just need training , they needed belief in themselves again.
That is why today my business combines both worlds:
hair and mindset.
Confidence is not just about how you look.
It’s about how you feel.
How you see yourself.
Hair can transform appearance, But confidence transforms lives.
What I know now is this, Confidence changes everything.
I love helping people become sucessful. No matter if you are a complete beginner course and want to learn the skills or life is just not where you want it be . I am here to support you.
