How Much Money Can You Earn As A Hairdresser Or Barber?

Let's say a Cut & Blow dry is £30 and takes around 1 hour to do.

If you do 2 Clients in the morning and 2 Clients in the afternoon  4 Hours work at £30 Each=  £120 a day

x 5 days = £600  That is without any colour Services!

Colour you can charge anything £50 - £200 Depending on what you offer.

Hairdressing Or Barbering is a flexible career that you can do full-time or part-time, Creative, Social, Satisfying and VERY Rewarding.

When Do Courses Start?

Viphair4utraining is very unique as it is one-to-one and face-to-face training with an experienced and qualified trainer, this means training can start as soon as you would like to learn, Subject to diary time. Training is normally 1 day a week with home study in between each session, very flexible working around other commitments you have.

What is the qualification?

All my courses are fully insured and accredited with Professional Beauty Direct. This means on completion of your training you can get Insurance to work as a Hairstylist or Barber working for yourself or in a salon/shop subject to an interview and trade test.

Do you cover the same information as an NVQ / VCTC ?

Yes, In fact, I try to give you more of my industry experience. Jacquie, your tutor has been in the Hair and Beauty Industry for over 25yrs. She has worked for some very well-known companies. Harrods, Cruise Ships,  L'oreal Professional as a technical Consultant where she used to teach courses like Colour Keys, Advanced Colour Keys and The Colour Specialist Degree. She has also done stage work with some industry Icons. Jacquie has been a Trainer /Educator for Toni and Guy and holds a full teaching qualification. The levels of teaching reflect her own industry experience.

Once trained what can I do?

Once you have completed your course you can work for yourself going self-employed or you can get a position in a salon or barbering shop.

To get a job in a salon/ shop they will want to see your experience. You will be invited to attend an interview where you will have to complete a salon trade test. This is a Cut & Style or Colour, Cut & Style within commercial time while they watch, see your skills and see how you interact with your client.  You will need to be confident and knowledgeable of all services so that they can pass you any clients at any time. Some salon will have their own signature way of doing things which you may need to learn before working as a stylist for that salon.

I recommend once you finished your training line up as many friends and family as you can, and then you can take before and after photos of your work building up your experience and portfolio of work.  This will also allow you to gain more confidence and get your speed to commercial time.

What is the length of the Training?

Depending on the course you choose it is over a fews weeks or months not years.

How can you train so quickly?

If you do an apprenticeship then you are learning while working in the salon , washing hair and keeping the salon clean and tidy. You get a model night most weeks,( around 3 hours) and you may also attend college for theory. The model night is where you will get to work hands on cutting and colouring hair, the rest of the time you are maintaining the salon.  At certain times of the years there is no training as the salon is too busy or staff are on holiday.

Going to college is for a combination of practical and theory over a period of time. It is around 20 students to 1 tutor. So  if you do a hair cut or colour you are waiting for the tutor to check each student's work. Also they have included time for you to do your written work in college hours.

My Training is just me and you. No wasting time check other peoples work, you will get hands on training straight away.

You are an adult, I do not need to teach you discipline or communication skills, I just need to teach you the skills.

You are not maintaining a salon, you are learning the skill straight away with no other distractions.

Why is training only once a week ?

Each week you will learn different techniques. You are not a hairdresser or barber until you have learnt all the techniques. On each session I will demonstrate a technique, you the learn that technique and then you will go home and repeat that technique so you can build your confidence and speed. As the weeks roll on, you will learn more and more techniques. Allowing time for practice in-between each session is very important. Everything at first is done on a Hairdressing/ Barbering training block, so you do not have to find people to work on straight away.
